It was yesterday really. Was in school by 7.30AM. Wanted to come in early to finish the report + website. Grand 2 hrs of sleep the night before. Slept at 3.30AM and woke up at 5.30AM.
The new computer centre is really NICE. Very nice with new furniture. And wonderfully large 17 inch LCD screens. What was the resolution? Twice than of 1024 x 768 pixels?
Well working on it faithfully (frantically?) till about 9am - when I suddenly realized that the freshmen have not arrived yet. Where was the phone call? Finally at 9.30am - got the phonecall - they were having breakfast in the canteen.
And I was pleasantly surprised - well ecstatic really - when I found that there was 2 chem engin freshmen! Wow. Wow. 2 juniors. Actually there was supposed to be 3 -- but apparently the 3rd person did not come for the camp.
One was from Hwa Chong and the other was from Anderson. Impressive. I'm very proud. One was a girl, the other was a guy and I didn't waste time mincing words - scaring them actually LOL - that they will be in for a tough time in the course. I hope I didn't scare them too badly. Brought them around the E5 block and the chem engin computer lab -- I was pleasantly surprised to see it upgraded like the computer centre. Can you believe it's making me sort of looking forward to the new semester?
Camp closing and kudos to the organising team. The forum was highly informative with distinguished speakers that included Mr Umar - a Malay entrepreneur - I lost count of the number of degrees he held - and Halimah Yacob.
And freshies were very entertaining. I laughed so loudly during the Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker duel done by one very funny freshie playing dual roles. "Come to the dark side Luke! breathes " "No bapak!"
Oh yeah. On an OT JAG-related thing - I was very surprised that after Lifehouse's "You and Me" finished playing, Five for Fighting's "100 Years" immediately played on my shuffled playlist! Heh. What are the odds? LOL.
